Born in Vienna, he had been in close touch with music right from the start. After a successful career with the Wienerwald's Boys' Choir, with which he toured the globe, he started focusing on playing the trumpet during his school years. However, he soon realized that his biggest passion was playing the saxophone and since then he had been on stage with bands such as Stevie's Wonder, No Head On My Shoulder, Alwins Tribute To The Honking Saxophone, Zawinul Day Ensemble, !Beloved and his very own project Purzelbear Swing Club, with artists such as Andy Baum, Monica Ballwein, Allegre Correa, Martin Schiske, Paul Urbanek, Cathi Priemer, Navid Djawadi. After having completed his studies of saxophone under the guidance of Wolfgang Puschnig at Vienna's University for Music and Performing Arts he also took up teaching and is tutoring a brass class. When Markus is on stage, it is not just his fingers that are moving - the groove, funk, rock, soul and blues are visibly flowing through all of his body.
